Being Creative with a Ladder

My taste has evolved and the antique booth has as well.  I absolutely love the ornate furniture and beautiful old wood pieces.  I throughly enjoy mirrors and chalkboards.  Hutches and china cabinets make me happy.  Lavender is divine.  I am going to start showing you how to do fun things for your home.  Decorating brings joy to the person who does it and to those who are blessed to see it.

Idea one:  One side of an old ladder with a antique garden gate on it, at an angle, then place a family photo on the gate.  If you do not have a half of a ladder, you can make a simple one from 1" x 1", cut 2- 7' long each.  Cut 6 - 1"x 1" pieces 14" long.   Paint with a dry brush, I use Purdy Brushes, they paint the best.  I use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint or Behr Paint and Primer from Home Depot.  Use two colors with the color you like best on top.  Lay the 6 - 14" Pieces in a straight line on the floor, equally space them to fit 6' inside the 7' long pieces.  Lay the long pieces on top of the cut pieces.  They should be either straight or you can make one end a bit more narrow and the other end wider, like an old ladder.  Screw them together from the back.  Your screw should be long enough to fit the width of one board and 1/2 of the other.  Predrill your holes to make it easy to screw together.  Hang on the wall.

If you do not have an antique gate, use a decorative piece of iron or a fancy photo frame with wire behind it.  You can use chicken wire or rabbit wire, cut to fit and staple to the back of the frame with a staple gun.  Hang on the ladder crooked.  Place the family photo straight.  It will look so cool.  Photos to come.  It is hot so do it in a cooler place or in the mornings so the paint dryes nicely.

Artfully Redone,
Nancy

Moving On

Yes! It does seem a bit perplexing to start by announcing a big move but that is the way life is at times. I am closing my two booths at Main Street Antique Mall, at the end of February and continuing on with my two booth at Merchant Square Antique Mall. It is a more centrally located location, such nice people work there and I am so blessed to have a large space near the front, BOOTH 104. You will see lots of fun things, windows, picket fences, benches, dressers, hutches, linens, tables, stools, chalkboards, just a great mix of ecletic things for your home. Please come by and say hi. I will be in on Monday to rearrange and bring in new things. Always redoing, Nancy

Music Wreath

Just finished this awesome music wreath.  Two layers seemed just right for this one with an open center.  It measures 36" around.  It makes a great dramatic statement in a room, different, ecletic and beautiful.  Available in BOOTH 104 at Merchant Square Antique Mall, 1509 N. Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ.  Located between Warner and Knox, east side of the street.  Price:  $36.00
